this website isnt even 2 days old, here's my thoughts.
4 March 2026
This post marks the point at which I am reaching a temporary stopping point in my journey of putting together this website. As of this post, this website is like, nearly 2 days old, I spent all yesterday and some hours today putting the basic thing together. I am using Derek Sivers' website (see acknowledgements on ABOUT page) as my model. I'm basically wholesale copying how his website is put together. I consider this a form of flattery... I think his website is the best personal website I've ever seen. I like it's simplicity and honesty, I like that it is dark grey. In 2013/2014 when I first thought of making my own website, I figured his was the best and I have maintained that feeling this whole time! I have ADHD so, while other websites are very exciting, they can be dizzyingly overwhelming. While I do LOVE novelty, I figure personally, I would stay longer on something easier on the eyes. This website is meant to be a sensory oasis. The font I'm using for the whole thing is called Open Dyslexic and it's made for dyslexic people to be able to read text better. I use a very similar (or the same, idk!) font on my Kindle e-reader and I love it on there.
Minimalism is important to me because as an ADHD person, I am naturally attracted to things that are shiny, novel and overly complicated. Time and time again I end up burning out and retreating to a simpler way of life. So I am going to keep this website simple for that reason. I love the honesty of hand coded html/css based websites. One of the best websites of all time is Piero Scaruffis' scaruffi.com, it's ancient but no one will ever have a problem running it because it's all html/css. I wish the corporate web would revert back to such simplicity. I have apps on my phone from trillion dollar companies that don't fucking work half the time because there is too much shit going on. As technology gets more powerful, they keep scaling it to match. Fuck that. Scaruffi.com has the most wonderful and comprehensive knowledge base of music and movie reviews and other stuff ever put together, and it loads instantly.
As of this initial blog post, I don't have a way for the outside world to contact me here, so it feels as if The Void (Me) is talking to The Void (You, dear reader). That matter remains undecided, it needs more time to cook in my brain before I implement anything (comment system? guestbook? email? something else?). The other unresolved conundrum I am thinking about is adding a Search function so you can find blog posts easier, I like how Sive.rs does it there, or I think I could just add a Google search bar somehow? I'm not sure how to do it yet. It would be nice to have, but not yet a necessity... The last future addition to the website I am tentatively considering is a Gallery page. I think it would be swag to have a page of shitty photos I have taken.
Anyways that will do it for me as we close in on this web childs 2 day anniversary. See you later
